How to Transfer a Planner

Export to Another Application

The planner can be exported to Ms Project.

Select Ms Project>Export to Ms Project; this can include the calendars and links between tasks (constraints).

There is no dynamic link between QDV7 and these applications unless they share data of an SQL database.

This directly opens the planner in either application.

To create a static snapshot, click Image and select the extension (jpg, png, tiff, bmp).

NOTES

- QDV7 displays the overall count of days, whereas Ms Project displays the count of working days.

- Task name: 255 characters at most.

Import From Another Estimate

Refer to How to Import Data.

Import From Another Estimate or An Excel File

If you import directly from an Excel file, skip the steps #1 and 2.

1.In the source estimate, select Data>Export to Microsoft Excel; the table on the left is exported with groupings if any; an extra row contains the column mnemonics

2.Save the Excel file

3.In the destination estimate properly configured (options, project settings), select Data>Import from Excel.

Some transformations may occur:

missing or invalid key is automatically assigned

Hammock task → Static task

unknown or missing task type  → default task type

missing or invalid start date →  task of 10 days starting today

Duration column takes over End date column

Numeric duration is construed as days count and type is set to “full working days”

Duration in the format ..d ..h ..m. If a count of days is available, the result is rounded to the higher count and type is set to “full working days”, else to “working hours”.

if blank duration, task → milestone

End date column

if blank date or end date = start date, task → milestone

invalid date →  start date + 10 days

NOTE Even though the Owner column is populated, the Owner book is not.
