Defining Slaves Lists

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Use Case

The values of a free column of type list can depend on another list's values thru a table, just like linked drop-down lists in Excel.

The slave list can be the (Kind) Id of a set sheet (Material, Workforce or Time frame), or a list for overhead (refer to List for Overhead).

The master list can be the (Kind) Id of a set sheet (Material or Workforce), or a list for overhead. It can rule several slaves.

Definition

The dependency is defined in the table of the master (set sheet or list sheet). The slave column is selected among the eligible lists.

Once the two lists are created, proceed as follows:

1.Select the master list tab and switch to Edit Mode

2.Select a column, right-click and select Insert slave list; this brings up a dialog box

3.Select the slave list

4.Click Combinations; this brings up a table Master list values – Slave list values

5.For each Master list value, double click the allowed Slave list values (or click and press Set)

6.Click OK; this inserts a column and populates it accordingly

Editing directly in the column is possible, with or without formulas.

In the Fields Manager, this definition grays out the 'Formula' and 'Entry allowed' attributes.

Insertion into the Minutes View

1.Insert the master and slave columns in the Minutes view (refer to How to Add Columns)

2.Select the values of the master column in the Minutes view; then those of the slave column
